"Owari no Chronicle 2-B" by Minoru Kawakami is the first half of the second entry to the Ending Chronicle Series and sets up the confrontation of Team Leviathan under Sayama's leadership and the representants of Second Gear.
By now I have totally fallen in love with a series that no one seems to know about. The jokes are totally my cup of tea, the story, although slow in general is not really more slow-paced than other LNs out there, and the characters are the most fleshed-out ones I have met in LNs so far.
Especially the characters introduced in this volume were a blast to read about: Akita and Kashima as partners had great chemistry going on between them, and with Kashima I think this might be the first time I read about a working father who has a family to care and think about. Characters of the main cast which were more in the background of the story get more spotlight and in general, I think I like the cast of this volume more than the characters of the previous one.
Story and worldbuilding are on the same solid level they were on in the previous volume: again the story is more about us readers understanding the motivation and mind set of Sayama's negotiation opponents, what their ties to this and their represented Gear are and how all these people can come together and negotiate the relationship on two worlds, when mass-destruction weapons are a constant to fit in your negotiations.
