A jaded Goddess…

Beck McQueen has spent her entire life hating the Gods. It was their fault that she and her mother had been banished from the godly planes and forced to live among the Mortals. It was their fault that she never truly fit in anywhere, always feeling alone. And it was their fault she was now being hunted. When her only hope for escape lies with the God of the Sea himself, she must put her pride and animosity aside and bargain for his protection. Though she fights it with all her might, Beck finds herself drawn to Poseidon in ways she can’t explain. But there are secrets hidden within her that could mean the end of everything…

A lonely God…

Poseidon has everything any God or mortal could want: an entire kingdom under his rule; more power than most could dream of; a different bedmate every night. But his life feels like an endless cycle of monotony. Desperate for a change, he begs the Fates for something—anything—to get him out of his rut. His pleas are answered by the arrival of Beck McQueen, the one female in all the world who doesn’t immediately fall for him. More than that, she actually seems to despise him for reasons he can’t possibly fathom. But beneath her hatred, there’s a connection between them, a connection he’s been desperate to find for centuries…

Can they break down the walls between them and find the happiness they’ve each been searching for, or will Beck's secrets rip everything apart?

WOW!! This was such an entertaining and refreshing take on the characters. Once I began I couldn't put it down until I finished. Can't wait to find out what happens next!! Hopefully this series will continue to develop with current and new characters.

Absolutely loved this book. My first time reading this author and I was hooked from the start. I read a lot of this genre but it's been a while since I was literally mad that I had to stop reading to go to work. Looking forward to the next one.

ARC REVIEW: from start to finish the book had me wrapped in its web. What kept me enthralled the most was leaning into two of my favorite tropes. Fated mates and enemies to lovers. Cliché? Maybe. But finding an author that can take those sometimes overused tropes and blend them seamlessly with the hero needs saving. Yep, cleaver and worth the read!

K.D. Miller has delivered another phenomenal reinvention of mythical lore.

If you enjoy characters with soul, creative world-building, and storytelling with depth and humor, you need to read Sweet Tempest. This book did not disappoint and checks all the boxes covering an imaginative storyline, fiercely lovable characters, humor, and of course, a good bit of steamy romance . This book is SO satisfying in every way. I can’t wait to see who gets the next story in this universe Miller has crafted!

4,5⭐️

I received an ARC Copy of this book, this review is from my own thought 😍

I truly enjoyed this book, I don't know what's been happening lately but I completely miss out on the fact that there is a book 1, but as it is a standalone in the series, I didn't have any problem understanding now I just want to read Skylar because she's just awesome. Let's go back to Beck and Si !!

So love stories about Gods, and Poseidon is really something, he doesn't know what he wants anymore, he finds his life dull and monotone, like there is something missing but he cannot realise what it is. There is a real depth in his character, he's a complex man who he's more than just a god, he's a protector, a warrior and a loyal brother. At the beginning I wasn't really sure about Beck, her deep hatred for the gods was a little too random, but the development was really great and she truly becomes a strong character who learns about herself and her powers.

This story is focused on Si and Beck's evolution, on how their relationship is built, it could be considered a slow-burn romance but there are still some moments when you can taste action. Also, I love all the other characters like Emmie, Z and Lily.

This is a definite must read for all paranormal lovers. I mean seriously....this has everything we could ever wish for!

A sassy heroine? Check.
An absolute swoon-worthy heartthrob? Check.
Gods, Goddesses, Sirens, Mermaids & Monsters out of nightmares? Check.
Steamy steamy scenes? Check.
And a plot that keeps you stuck to the Kindle? Check.

Really! What else do we need! I have absolutely loved reading this book.

Gotta go back and read Hades and Skylar's book though because I started with this one.

Oh! And these are standalone stories featuring each couple but the central storyline is carried forward. So even though I started with Beck and Poseidon's story....with all the back ground and tit bits, I really didn't feel like I was missing anything. Can't wait to read the next book in this series.

Couldn't put it down!

This is the 2nd book in this series, each one technically a standalone but in a connected world. I LOVED it!! Yes, it's a thicc one, but I devoured this book in one night! I was sucked right in and couldn't get enough. I loved Beck and Si! They completed each other! They chemistry was scorching from the moment they met! Both think they are "broken" and neither think they can love. They can't explain the draw they have to each other but they can only fight it for so long. I loved how all the characters make appearances. You'll see characters from the 1st book and get to know everyone even better. I cannot wait for the next book! This story is getting better and better! Can't wait to see what KD Miller does next!
Fantasy, magic, tough female characters, action, so much tension from the slow burn and so much spice is all in this book!!

DNF. NOPE. This was CRINGEY.
An angry girl meets promiscuous Poseidon. Manwhore MMCs are a hit or miss for me, and I wasn't sure what to feel about Poseidon fucking a different female every other day, or the fact that the heroine's such a prickly character, it was hard to like her.

Throw in the forced/overwhelming SEXUAL TENSION that didn't make sense - insta-lust on steroids - I felt so uncomfortable. The attraction didn't feel "natural". The author relied too heavily on it, and this isn't even a smutty story (I never got to the sex, and I would have skimmed)

OVERALL not very likeable characters, TOO WORDY, I don't even know what the plot's about and the sexual attraction had me feeling all kinds of second-hand embarrassment instead. I AM MIFFED ABOUT ALL THE 4-5 STARS RATING.

Couldn’t put it down! A must read

This is the second book in the Veracity of the Gods series and it left me wanting more of Poseidon and Beck!! These two are a match made in heaven. Poseidon believes he isn’t capable of having deeper feelings for anyone and Beck who has never had anyone love her, but wants to be loved so badly. They dislike each other in the beginning, but are drawn to one another. I loved how he broke through her walls and got to know her. Also, he is the KING of romantic gestures. If you read the book you’ll understand why! The steam is intense and so good! Si and Beck are insatiable. The sexual tension between the two of them is…whew!!! (Fanning myself thinking about it!) The storyline shows some scenes from the first book, but from another character’s point of view which was really fun and interesting. As with the first book, the world building is fantastic! I can clearly see what everything and everyone is suppose to look like and the descriptions are effortless. Sometimes it feels like some authors over describe something to get the image across, but this book is done wonderfully. I liked the introduction of Pandora and the Box that she guards which holds the Dark Ones and other evil beings. Pandora’s power is fading and with it, so does the power keeping the Box together. By the end of the book, everyone is preparing for war since there isn’t much time until everyone escapes the Box. There’s about to be so much fighting and action! It’s definitely an exciting plot and it could go on for a couple of books! Emmie is probably my favorite character! I need to know more about her. Also, there’s multiple characters who could have their book next, but please for the love of the gods let it be Emmie, Lucas and Dean!!!! Their book is gonna be so good and it’s a need not a want!! I have to know more about the three of them!

Beck is a lonely girl, unable to connect with anyone in the mortal world. Her mother is a Goddess banished by Zeus when Zeus found out her mother was pregnant with his child. Beck has a special hate for the Gods, and also has a love/hate relationship with her mother who flits in and out of her life leaving young Beck to her own devices. Because of this, Beck is emotionally stunted and at times acts a bit immature. It's hard for Beck to trust anyone, so she keeps personal information to herself. When Beck decides to go out with her team on a boating excursion, the boat is attacked by demons demanding Beck. In the struggle, Beck is pulled underwater and in her struggle to save herself she calls to Poseidon.

Poseidon is at a point in his life where he tired of the constant orgies and wants something real. Calypso left him years ago, and he hasn't felt anything since that time. Beck annoys him with her abject hate of the Gods and Beck demands to be returned to the mortal world. Si agrees, only to find demons in search of Beck. Beck asks Si for sanctuary, and he grants it. During her time in Si's Kingdom, they develop a friendship which makes her question all the things her mother told her.

I really enjoyed this story and the world building, along with the conflict. Some of it,Beck brought on herself for not telling anyone about her mother among other things, but she is understandably mistrustful. I enjoy the camaraderie between the characters, and the author's vivid imagination. I can't wait to read more!

Book Review: Sweet Tempest K. D. Miller

This is the second novel I’ve read by KD Miller. I absolutely loved it I read Dark Burning which is book one in this series and you do need to read it first if you really want to have the full immersive experience in this world. This is a Poseidon retelling and man oh man does it really bring the slowest slow burn and pining to this enemies to lovers tale. Beck the female MC has been told her whole life that the gods are horrible and to not trust them. When she’s found in a life or death situation she must call on one and she soon learns things aren’t the way she thinks. Poseidon is definitely a romantic at heart even though he doesn’t show the world but I really liked his character and the lengths he goes to remove her walls and show her the truth. I loved that the side characters also get their stories told slowly through each of the books so you get a full story of everyone involved. I loved this story and the characters! Cannot wait to read the next one!

🔱 Poseidon retelling
🔱 Enemies to Lovers
🔱 Slow Burn
🔱 Lies and betrayals
🔱 Bounty Hunters
🔱 Who did this to you?
🔱 Touch her/him and die
🔱 Found Family
🔱 End of the World
🔱 Gods and Goddesses

This is a must read!! I have always loved Greek mythology re-tellings but after a while they all seem similar and predictable. Not this book! Not only does it suck you in right away but it also keeps you on your toes.

I was lucky enough to read Sweet Tempest and Dark Burning (the first book) before release dates. Both books came at a time when I was craving to read about one of the top 3 Greek God's; Hades, Poseidon, and Zeus. Both Hades's book and Poseidon's books were phenomenal and I hope this is a series that keeps going. So many great characters were in both books and you just can't wait to see where they go in the future.

In Sweet Tempest you have two lonely people that come together. They learn how to deal with their emotions and what it's like to be in a relationship. Poseidon and Beck are two very strong, badass characters. It was fun to watch them grow in this book, to learn about new powers and creatures, like the leviathan.

This book was seriously hard to put down. Was reading every free chance I got. I already can't wait to reread this book/series. It will be soon!!

I will preface this review by the fact that I have not read book one of this series. Even without reading the first book, I did not really feel lost. I do feel like some of the characters I may have known more about had I read the other one, but I didn't find it necessary.

You cannot help but be intrigued by the characters in this book. The twist on the Greek Mythological stories are one of my favorite genres. Because of this I usually am highly critical of these. But I cannot find fault with these amazing characters. The brothers are portrayed as brothers, who act like human boys sometimes and kings at other times really is a fresh dynamic.

As for the storyline, at some points I felt like it dragged, and other times rushed. The love story dragging made sense, but some of the dealys on the main storyline aggrivated me. I could see where it was going and couldn't understand how blind the characters were. This was minor and for anyone who loves mythology retellings, paranormal romance or anything in between would certainly enjoy this slightly spicy book.
I received a free ARC copy from the author in exchange for review.

This one turned into a page turner for me

I had a rough start with this story. Perhaps because I haven’t read the first in this series. Poseidon was a horn dog for longer than I was comfortable with, and I’m not a fan of characters constantly swinging from extremely hot to extremely cold - even if there are Reasons. Having said all that, those issues resolved for me around 40% through the story, and it was smooth sailing from there. The world building is excellent, and the character growth is fun to watch. Many of the character interactions had me smiling and occasionally laughing out loud, which made it very easy to keep on turning the pages. This story is very much only a section of the bigger story arc, and not only am I interested to see the resolution of the overall plot, there are a number of potential relationship that I am keen to know more about.

Full disclosure: I was given an ARC of the book, however this review is my own honest opinion.

The relationship between the male characters and the continuation of the series is what appears to keep this story going. This is my first time reading this author and the world she has created is easy to slip into. I am not a fan of paranormal romance where there are supernatural beings with “powers” that are supposed to be so great but are defeated at the first sign of a struggle. It makes any subsequent battles anticlimactic.

Beck was infuriating, one moment self-sufficient, the next completely cardboard. She has powers but they are not evident for the bulk of the book, she is pretty much useless. The unnecessary keeping of an integral secret and the reveal. The quirky oracle is a trope that is overused and in this case, felt superfluous at many points in the story. Beck as a MC was not all that likable to me and I do not, based upon the interactions and relationship building, see at all why Si would be so enamored. Was it because she acted as if she had some spirit at first? Who knows? It just doesn’t read as plausible. The book is also extremely slow-burn and again much of that is thanks to Beck. The pseudo-innocence becomes tiresome.

I know that this is meant to be a series but the absolutely inane world-breaking decisions that are just accepted as no big deal even though they were colossally stupid is infuriating as a reader. It just further adds to the “Beck is not that bright” column. I could not decide whether the author was writing to serve the story or the series. Overall the book was well written and that is the reason for the three stars unfortunately I do not have the desire to continue with the series.

I was so excited to be chosen to be on the Arc team for this book. This was the first book I ever read from K.D. Miller and I couldn't put it down! I absolutely love it. Beck was so human, and I know that may sound like a weird comment, but she had all the insecurities of a normal girl and then she found her bad a$$ness. Si was just freaking sexy! I mean who wouldn't just be drooling about imagining Shemar Moore as The God of The Sea. I loved the connection and live that The Brothers had with one another. They had that easy flow between them, how teased each other much like true family does. The cave scene with Beck and Si had me trying to read with tears in my eyes. I mean that has got to be horrible to imagine and wouldn't wish it on anyone. I think I may have found a new author that I have to place on my calendar for new books for their release dates.

This book y’all! I absolutely love the take on these stories/characters! I will never tire of the witty one liners and references in all of KD Miller’s books and she did not disappoint in this one - I laughed out loud more than once! Each character has their own quirks and personalities.

The character development for both Beck and Si was great - they really grew together in every way possible. Their sexual tension and chemistry was ❤️‍🔥

I also love that we see the characters from the first book Dark Burning and not just little snippets. I can’t wait to see what is next for all these characters!

If you are looking for something fun and new - if you love sexy as H E L L (pun intended), badass characters, awesome world- building, and an overall amazing story this book is for you!

Wow !!!!!!!!

I got this book free for a honest review. And I am so glad I did. This book is amazing!!!! I normally just reread JR Ward, Sherlyn Kennon, Gena Showalter books because they are so funny and just amazing. Well I just added K.D Miller to the list of all time best authors. This book had my from the start! It is hilarious, great love story, good action , great paced book. I couldn’t put it down. You won’t regret reading this book. I didn’t know there was a book before this one. And you don’t have to read them in order to understand this book. I am going to read the first book in this series now and any other book she has written.

This was my first time reading KD Miller and I will be adding her to my favourites! I normally read paranormal romance involving vampires and werewolves but this was refreshing different. KD Miller shows us a different and more personal side to known figures in Greek Mythology.
This author does a fantastic job in painting a world that you can see. I love the strong female characters, Beck, Skylar, and especially Emmie (I have not read the 1st book and I can't wait to buy it to read Skylar's story). I hope KD Miller continues on with many more books in this series. I can't wait to read more!
Disclaimer...I was a selected ARC reader for this book...I honestly could not put it down!!

I didn’t think it was possible to love Poseidon’s story as much as I loved Hades’ in “Dark Burning,” but holy crap, I was so so wrong!!! I actually love Si more. “Sweet Tempest” by K.D. Miller is an amazing book with a fantastic plot and a wonderful love story. I loved Si and Beck, and I thought their romance was deliciously slow burn enemies to lovers at its finest. Si was such a swoony hero, I loved his sense of humor and how fiercely loyal and protective he was. And Beck! She was jaded at first, but I loved watching her find her place in the world and become equal parts brilliant and confident. 5 freaking stars!!!

I am part of KD Millers Facebook Arc team, and this is the fourth book I’ve read of hers and I just fall more and more in love with this author with each book. Her world building and way she portrays each character making them unique with all their own quirks. I haven’t read all too many Greek mythology books, so sometimes I would find myself lost with which god was who (besides hades, who doesn’t know hades ha ha) so I think adding in a “family tree” would be helpful for some readers. But nonetheless you fall in love with alll the characters. Another wonderful book to add to my read pile! 10 out of 10 would recommend💕

WOW! I am so glad I came across this story and author. Beck and Si's story was enthralling, heart breaking, spicy and kept me turning the page for more! The book was a tad slow in the beginning to get my attention, but once a few chapters in, it really picked up the pace and kept me wanting more. I loved all of the characters love and relationships with each other and can easily see how this series could spin off into multiple more books. I am so excited to read about Zeus' and also Emmie's story in the future. 10/10 would recommend! Cant wait for book 3!

This one....

I know, I know. You're unsure of picking up another Greek Gods retelling. but this series is vastly different from all the others. Keep in mind, I'm obsessed with Greek mythology, which makes me picky on retellings.

But K.D. did a FANTASTIC job of bringing these characters to life. The stories are modern but still have a touch of the original lore, and she stayed true to who Poseidon was. And Beck?! Maaaan I kinda wanna be her when I grow up!

I'm soooo looking forward to the next one!

Awesome read it had me hooked from the first chaptor. Thank you for allowing me to read this as part of your ARC readers. I loved that in the book it shows that love is so strong it can steal through anything. Poseidon and all the other gods are simply looking for the ultimate bond and love.... I loooove that as strong as they are they can not live life without THE ONE true one. Emmie and all she does makes you laugh out loud and wish for a friend like her in your life. Can not wait to read more of this wonderful world that you created K. D. Miller its the best.

Thank you to KD Miller and her team for allowing me to read this as an ARC. This is my honest review! Sweet Tempest is the second installment in the Veracity of the Gods series. Dark Burning (1) was good, but Sweet Tempest was great! This is such a fun series. It is one of the more unique reimaginings I’ve read with a totally new spin on some mythological gods and beings. All the characters and world building are great. Beck has my heart and I loved her story. I loved seeing her blossom as the book went on! Can’t wait to read the next installment!

K.D. Did it again. Holy crap. She has this way of writing her characters that just sucks you in. You know each and every one of them. And the way she writes the men? *swoon* Thought none of them could be better than Hades from Dark Burning because he's the first you fall for, and he's dark and broody, but shoot dang. Si? Take me, I'm yours.

This book was absolutely amazing. I cannot wait to see what happens next. Things are brewing, and I am here for it. She's got the spice, the adventure, the witty banter, and just all around world building down to a science.

She’s a 10 but she hates the Gods.

K.D. Miller has set the bar coming into 2023. I love a dynamic paranormal romance series and she delivered! I’m a new reader for this author and I can honestly say I am HOOKED 🪝I was drawn into the story immediately and couldn’t put it down. Her characters and story plot were so consuming that I could imagine the scenes playing out in my head. I neglected my household/work for the 3 days it took me to read this book lol but I regret nothing! I definitely want to see how this series progresses, so I’ll be back for more.

I could not put it down! At first I was a bit lost but I think that's because I made the mistake of not reading the first book but now I definitely will. So many times I felt myself yelling at Si and Beck to "just freaking kiss already!" So that first scene in the hallway had me giddy with joy. I'm super intrigued by all the characters now and I just honestly can't wait to read more. I was almost convinced that Dalton's mate was Beck's mom, but then the curveball of it being freaking Aphroditie?! I need to find out more please. All in all, I loved this book

I was given the opportunity to get an advanced copy through ARC. I am so happy I did. This book was very well written with a great plot. I did not realize this was the 2nd book in a series, but as the story developed I was then able to recognize there was another storyline that fit into this book. This made me search to see if there was an additional book. I was ecstatic to find there was indeed a first book and guess what I am getting to read next!?!?! Look forward to what the next book will hold and how their story will play out.

I am new to K.D. Miller and I am really glad that I found her as I really enjoyed this duet.
You don’t have to read book one to fully understand book 2 as it is written well enough to stand on its own, however, I would highly recommend it to get to know all of the characters. Hopefully, there will be other books about the other Characters (Zeus…hint..hint) 😊

If you enjoy enemies to lovers then you will definitely enjoy this book. It has a bit of everything drama, fantasy, suspense and definitely some 🔥 spice.
