These poems record the voices of those in the coal fields of southern West Virginia and eastern Kentucky whose lives have been affected by mountaintop removal coal mining.
i don't know how to review poetry -- i don't know how to tell whether a poem is "good" or "not" beyond whether i, personally, like it. that said, i liked it. this poetry was rocky & oily & sometimes uncomfortable. i couldn't put it down and i thought about it for some time later.
