I found this book at my local library book sale and honestly, it cost a dollar so I went for it. I was very happily surprised. Using my friend, Ms. Google, I found out that this book is hard to get in the United States. There is not a single photo I could find on Google for the book cover actually. I loved that this book is fully bilingual so if I were capable of checking the English translation with the Thai, I could. (I can't speak Thai but perhaps others will love this about this book.)
I can tell that this book completely deserved the awards it has received thus far. I believe it is a good beginning for the re-emergence of Thai poetry in the modern era. I could feel myself entering the shoes of the writer as a child, even though I had to refer to the convenient footnotes on cultural items discussed, and I found that very beautiful. I started a practice of reading a poem from this book aloud every day until I finished it. It was lovely.
