I haven't always been an avid reader. I was in 7th grade when my friends introduced me to "The Hobbit." I've never been the same - that book changed my life.

Other than reading and writing, I enjoy golfing, hiking, jogging, yard work, college sports, and spending time with my family.

For my "day job" I own a small software company. We specialize in insurance and risk management systems.

I've been married to my best friend for over 30 years now. We have five wonderful daughters who are married to great guys - we feel very blessed. We have 11 1/2 grandchildren and hope for many more!

I hope you enjoy reading "Sons of Prophecy" as much as I have enjoyed writing it. There are two more books in the making, so there's more to look forward to!

I'm very open to your comments and questions. Please contact me here, or on my web site (see below).

Thanks and I wish you all the best,
Steve

I LOVED this book!!!! In full disclosure, it is by my Dad :) But, seriously, it was so good!!

The characters are great. They really come to life, and I enjoyed trying to decide what motivated each one, and who was "good" and who was "bad". The fantasy elements (creatures, lore, etc.) are so creative. I really liked the prophecies and how they play into things. There's plenty of mystery and intrigue, too, that made it a definite page-turner.

All in all, an awesomely entertaining book that was well worth the messy house I found myself in when I finished reading it and came out of book coma :)

Oh, and sorry this will send twice, but I forgot to mention how much I loved the language and writing style. So full of imagery, great analogies - just beautifully written.

Can't wait for the second one to come out!

This is not my usual genre... I would say adventure/fantasy...? Our friend wrote it and I am just constantly amazed at his ability to dream up this plot and put it down on paper. The plot is interesting and it moves along quickly to keep you on your toes. I really really liked it. I would definitely recommend it to adults and teens. My only criticism would be that I had a hard time keeping the characters straight. Their names are unfamiliar and I couldn't remember who was who. Otherwise, great job Steve!

This is a first novel written by my friend and neighbor. I wasn't expecting him to be such a great storyteller. I don't love fantasy novels, but this one was a lot of fun. There were many surprises throughout the book that kept me guessing what would happen at the end. He wove an adventurous story between a variety of characters, some of whom I came to love and some I came to hate. He left a nail-biting cliffhanger at the end so I'm looking forward to the second book in the series.

This is an absolutely awesome book! Sometimes people say they get drawn into books, which isn't something I often find happening to me. However, it happened with this book! After you read a few hundred fantasy books, sometimes they start to get predictable, but I found that with Sons of Prophecy: Davian's Deception, new and unexpected things happened at every turn! I would definitely recommend this book to anyone, because it is an interesting book no matter what age you are.

It's been awhile since I've read a fantasy novel and I'd forgotten how much I enjoy them. Sons of Prophecy is a solid book for being a first (I'm assuming) novel and self published. It has a great plot and an intriguing prophecy. It did take me some time to get into the book. I really struggled with Jena, and found her reactions unbelievable. Her husband and everyone she knows is slaughtered and she doesn't really do anything...doesn't feel anything. The after she has triplets she's up and about doing loads of stuff. It just wasn't realistic. After that section I was able to enjoy the story more. However, I felt like the characters fell really flat, and that they had no dimension. All of them were either really really good or really really bad. There was no in between or realness to them. Also, while I really like novels that are told from different points of view, I felt this one had too many POV's which made it distracting. It also broke up the story more than was helpful. You would get into a section and then it would switch characters and it would be a long time before you got back to what you were interested in. By then it was almost like, "where was I? What was happening with this character? Who is he again?"
I really appreciated that this was a clean novel that told a good story. While there was violence, it wasn't over the top gory, the language was clean and so was the rest of the book. I appreciate authors who can write a good story and keep things clean.

I really enjoyed reading this book. The author was a great story teller, and has a great imagination - introducing some really neat ideas into this fantasy genre book. Several surprises thrown in, and an ending that left me eagerly waiting the next book in the series !
