Walter Alison Phillips (b.1864-d.1950) was a historian specializing in 19th century European history. He held the first chair of the Lecky Chair of History in Trinity College, Dublin, until his retirement in 1939.
For eight years he served as a contributing editor to the Encyclopaedia Britannica. He also wrote for The Times newspaper as a correspondent in South America.
He did most of his writing under the name W. Alison Phillips.
