This book holds a special place in my heart, and I wouldn't generally review... but this is a call out to the author and a very gifted teacher who opened my eyes up to the world of books.
When I was in primary school, year two to be exact, I was in special reading class :/ yep. .... Anyways, fast forward eight months of excellent training - my teacher (who's name escapes me - poor form I know!) asked me to read a book all by myself, the book she handed me was 'smarty pants'.
long-Ish story short, I read it without any assistance!!!
Now, This is where the story gets particularly heart warming, after finishing the book I looked to my teacher who was now crying...
startled I asked.... 'Why are you crying? Did I read it wrong?'
Teary eyed she replied 'no, you did excellently... I'm crying because I'm happy'
I know!!!! There's something in my eye too! 😭😭😭😭
After that monumental lesson she gave me a mini chalk board and a porcelain apple with a sweet smelling hanky inside... I'd like to say I still have them but I don't, or that I spent the next couple of years learning more with her, but I didn't as my family and I moved town only days later.
Even now as a 33 year old woman I still remember that moment in my life so vividly, what a great first book and memory attached?
Sorry if the punctuation is all out of whack... sooooo should of stayed in those classes ;)
