A lightning quick read, and a fascinating life. Venturi has a close connection to my own life with my relationship to the California Golf Club. The golf story and life story are well done, but doesn’t feel as raw as it should be. The rating is not due to the content or the story, but only because I was left wanting more.

I really enjoyed this book. I grew up listening to Venturi. He was thick as thieves with Sinatra, Dean Martin, Joe DiMaggio, Bing Crosby, Mickey Mantle, among others back in the day. Imagine what he saw hanging around with that crew.

I read this book because Ryan left it laying around and it was about golf. This guy was hard to bear....lots of ego. It seemed like it was his effort to hang every person that had ever crossed him out to dry.

I liked this book a lot than I thought I would. Easy read. I would really like to see an amateur win the Masters.
