I'm having difficulty rating this one and though I ended up giving it four stars, it's not a firm one. Some parts are more two stars but the relationship between the three men put it at 4-star level for me.
MMwW went off with a great start for me because I found the writing crisp, they didn't sound like chicks with dicks (unlike a book I just read and didn't bother to even review) and sounded like it had a plot. I was skeptical because this is an M/M/M which becomes, for awhile, an M/M/M/F then M/M/M/M - and...it's from Siren Publishing. I automatically shelved it, mentally, as pure erotica.
MMwW does have hot sex, a lot of sex, uncomfortable sex (rolling around on the white sand and fucking? Ouch.) and girl cooties sitting on their haunches waiting to join the action. Eversince I started reading M/M romance almost exclusively, I avoided all those that had 'F' in the labelling or if I see a woman on the cover touching my boys. Its weird and irrational, maybe, but that's how my wallet's thinking these days.
In the end, there isn't much of a plot. Admiral Shoemaker sends three men - Nate Francisco, Donovan Collier and Colby Carrington - on a secret mission in the Cook Islands. They don't know why they're there because these ISOs - Independent Special Ops - just do as they're told and, if they survive their missions, can ask questions later. Only this time, all three men aren't supposed to come back alive.
Some may consider the next bit of info a S-P-O-I-L-E-R so if you're spoiler-sensitive, don't read any further.
There's a stupid, implausible reason why Admiral Shoemaker sent them on this suicide assignment. I thought it was something big, some national security threat that involved the men, or maybe those three guys had stumbled onto a secret that would destroy the Admiral's career. I suspected the reason after awhile but was disbelieving that it could be so flimsy but it's true - the Admiral has the hots for one of the guys and his son (the 4th 'M' in the M/M/M/M) is in love with another. That's it. That's the reason - the Admiral can't accept his homosexual tendencies. He'd committed Darby, his son, in a mental institution because Darby's gay and I suppose that can be believable even in this day and age but sending three guys to a remote island on the other side of the world to be murdered just because he can't deal with his desire for one of them? I dunno...maybe.
If I'm not wrong, the remaining 'M', Colby, was meant to kill them and the girl cooties were sent in to kill him. Girl cooties find the guys way too hot to waste (so would I, I guess :P) and switch sides. There were times when I couldn't get a grip on who was who doing what to whom so I'm hoping there'll be other reviews posted which will either correct me or fill in some gaps.
Nate even falls in love with Karen or so he thinks but the ending is an M/M/M. This, and the men's relationship with one another was what took it to 4-star level for me. If it weren't for the girl cooties, I'd read MMwW again just to make sure I got the story right. Did I like MMwW in the end? Yes, I guess I did. But from now on I will make darn sure my gay romances stay purely M/M.

DNF. Got about 25% of the way into this but honestly I just can't stand the tone it's written in. I can see what the author is going for but it just won't do it for me.
