I want to preface this entire thing with I thought the title was cool and I got this for two dollars in some old musty used book store in the middle of nowhere. Ok? Don't come after me for this.

Here is a book summary for those curious:

The Von Kleists--industrial giants pledged to profit and the Fatherland. From the baroque splendor of Old Prussia to the explosive world of today's Middle East, through the devastating humiliations of world war, they battled to survive. Some played out their supreme destinies in a ruthless game of passion, intrigue and deadly betrayal. Others fought to preserve dignity and tenderness in the face of the family turmoil that raged within...Johan--the bitter patriarch, determined to avenge the shame of Germany's defeat in World War I. Kurt--heir apparent to a legacy of hate, he and his fanatical wife, Anya, would crush all who opposed the Nazi ideal. Eric--the disinherited son, a doctor who shunned the family's millions--until a shocking revelation forced him to challenge his father for control. Horst--the hot-blooded rebel who would defy both father and country, risking treason in an affair bound by love and honor. And Reinhildt--the tragic daughter whose reckless forbidden love meant risking home, happiness--even life itself.

I never found out what that shocking revelation was. My eyes glazed over in the last hundred pages. It reads like it was 1985, and for a moment I thought the author was a woman until there was some oddly specific descriptions of the female characters that made me go "OHHHHHH. This is a dude."

I'm not going to visibly give this a rating because I don't want to be that asshole who prescribes their silly opinion of a book onto the entire goodread rating. But, its...terrible.

OH WAIT. THE SHOCKING REVELATION. The main character is half-Jewish. I genuinely do not care if you consider this a spoiler.

Hope you're having a good day! See ya around.
