Rodin

Rate this book
Very likely the finest book on Rodin ever published. Written by Monique Laurent who at the time it was published was director of the Musees de France. Some of her incredibly prestigious background professor of nineteenth and twentieth century history of art at the Ecole du Louvre, organizer of exhibits of Rodin in Japan, Mexico, Vienna, Seoul & India, author of several works on Rodin and Director of the Musee Rodin. Henry Holt and Co. could not have found a more qualified expert on the subject and the gorgeous 160 page book is simply stunning with its large color reproductions of all of his works. The book is coffee table size. approx. 10" x 13" and is a joy to read and view.

In 1996, a period I like to think of as my halcyon days as an artist, actor, dancer, and content provider, I had the great opportunity to visit Paris, France for the second time. During my visit I made a trip to the Rodin Museum at the Hotel Biron and picked up this guide book. The book is a diminutive and compact compendium, but information packed. The guide book outlines the exquisite building and its history as well as the museum which holds a vast span of this great artist and sculptors oeuvre.

Never being one to be burdened or influenced by what someone else has proposed in writing so that my experience could be first hand; this book has sat simply as a reminder of that time and experience. Finally, with time available I have read it. So many memories fondly remembered.

If you have this in your possession and have too visited this museum, find the time to read it.
If you desire to live vicariously through text of other's contributions to culture, pick it up. This slender guide book will develop your appreciation I am almost certain to say.
