The book tells the life of Tatsui Sato--an early church convert after WWII and a Japanese legend. He translated the Book of Mormon (2nd Edition?), Talmage's books, the temple ceremony, etc. into Japanese. The book had too many details for me though, so I just skimmed it and found the information I was interested in. I had recently read in the book about Elder Packer's experience with the waif begging with a cup when he was on a train in Japan. Interesting that I heard the story again in conference.
An interesting read for returned missionaries from Japan. I enjoyed learning more about the life of Brother Sato, possibly the first convert after the end of the war. Assistance from LDS servicemen not only provided necessary sustenance for he and his family but spiritual food as well. He is a legend among the older Japanese Saints for his heroic translation efforts.
