Textbook, soft cover, fluid, robust, informative, and applicable.
Only during a few chapters did I lag behind (the chapter on Computer Programming was a bit heady for me, maybe because it was late in the semester and I was under the gun).
The class was a lot of work, a lot of reading, a lot of applications/workstation etc. a research paper and a group programming project. I learned a ton of stuff from this single class alone. I don't remember any other 101 class that was this packed full of assignments as IST 101.
I earned my pure 'A' but it was tough. Not sure I could do that if I was going full time student.
