I believe you supported these expansionist efforts out of your desire to see more peoples of the earth living in freedom and democracy rather than out of the desire to enslave them under your nation's control. Lincoln, on the other hand, concentrating on domestic problems, did not con cern himself with affairs of the world as actively as you did.
