I acquired this book as a two-in-one so I expected a continuation of the first book (This Child of Mine) however, it wasn't ... so it took me a bit to get into it. Once I did - wow! what a story ... I'm sure it happens, a child born out of love; yet now shared with the child's father - rocking his world. What a blessing that he embraced this new role and the story unfolds ...

Some excerpts that I enjoyed...
I think you should lean on God instead of your own strength .... To get past the past. To get past the past. To believe the God has forgiven that sin and that He doesn't see it anymore. He's already done it, but you're acting as if you can't accept His gift of grace.

You know how. Deep in your heart, you know. Let go of the grudge. It's eating at you, ruining your joy. You can't change the past. You can't make it better. You only have now.

If God can forgive, I think you can, don't you? And if He's on your side, the battle's already won.

Hooey, Marlarkey. Garbage, pal. Pure and simple. God doesn't make people like robots or computer chips. He makes them with a heart and soul. Your heart isn't dead or frozen or any of those other things you keep thinking .... God is your real Father. He's not going to let you miss out on one of the best experiences a human can have. Just relax, enjoy your new family one day at a time. The time will come when you'll wake up and realize that somehow, some way, love got rooted inside of you and it won't let you go.

Parents are people, too. They make mistakes. They yell when they shouldn't. Life happens. There's nothing wrong with a child learning that everyone make mistakes. It's how we handle them that iggestrmatters.

I think you're trying to prove yourself. Isn't that what all this frenetic activity is about - showing everyone you can do it, that you can handle whatever you get? Mother, granddaughter, niece, friend, church member, businesswoman. Superwoman? .... You were wrong, you know. There is no such thing as making quality time. You can't make it. It happens in those moments when you're relaxed and not really thinking about anything. That's when the enlightenment comes, the questions are asked, the biggest decisions are made. You can't schedule that.
