This book is great, If you are new to the idea of building a business to sell, then this is surely for you. and if you have not yet started your business, i definitely think this book is not one you should do without. It is highly informative and very light on fluff, that's right there is virtually no filler. but there is one thing i should mention...
Anyone buying this book based purely off the title, may not enjoy the fact that garson has 40 chapters in this book and has dedicated a full 20 chapters to building a business, And the other half on selling the Business. I myself found this to be very delightful as a reader, you can never be to savvy in business. I was glad to get all this fruitful information. But i can see why this may bother others
And as to the other half of the book, it was some of the most impressive material i have seen so far, when it comes to selling a business. he goes through all sorts of twists and turn. and trap business buyers like to try and put people in. And there are alot! You can Trust me with that mate. I have to say, as a person looking to build and sell his own business one day, garson probably managed to save me and my firm over £20 million alone, just with the traps he shows you how to avoid. I can't stress enough how many traps there are.
And As to garson's writing style, he's pretty decent, quite straightforward with his material. you start each chapter knowing exactly what it's going to be about just by reading the first two paragraphs or so. Happy Reading, Feel free to write me at Moneymavericks92@Gmail.com about anything.
I never would have bought this based on the title and cover. There is a lot of junk in the get-rich-quick market and I know that's what you're thinking since that's what I thought from the title too, but this book came highly recomended by people who know their stuff and I can vouch for it now too, this is serious and good advice for people running small businesses. An alternate title could be Clean Bookkeeping and Preparing for the Future
The principle of making a plan with the end in mind is applied to a business itself and a side effect of doing this is seeing the importance of keeping proper records and making more strategic business decisions. While half the book is about the nitty gritty and bewares of selling a business, the other half is all about being accountable, the pre-requisite to making the sale process easier.
All in all this is a good book filled with wise suggestions from someone who has been through many business sales.
The book answers the question in the title , A three hundred page long answer. For me personally, the book felt off because I read it in a stage where I’m building a business and I’m passionate about it and have never thought about selling it but I cannot be douche and say that book was bad, it was informative and if you’re one who wants to sell a business in UNITED STATES, Give it a shot.
if u have read some books about business, offers, and etc. then it is fluff. Just got a good point that in business the less important you are the easier it is to sell it. and what is EBITDA.
