He’s a self-centered chef. She’s an uptight cellist. Can they cook up a harmonious melody, or will they fall flat?
Kendall’s got it made. Dream job. Endless string of easy women. His life is just the way he wants it: uncomplicated. But his world threatens to crash down when his best friend gets engaged, making him the last bachelor standing. When he’s asked to be the best man, Kendall agrees for one reason: the wedding’s sexy cellist. She’s a fun new conquest…one who wants nothing to do with him. But who doesn’t love a little challenge every now and again? Calla longs to be a professional musician. She even works at a trendy club… as a waitress. Cue the withering sigh. When her string quartet is hired to play a high-profile wedding, she’s ecstatic. This could be their big break, but there’s a catch. Her jerk of a kitchen manager is the best man. She would rather be hit by a bus than spend extra time with Kendall. He’s egotistical. Idiotic. And too gorgeous for his own good.
Can Calla play nice long enough to achieve her dreams? Or will Kendall prove to be her waking nightmare?
- Jealousy unfurled its dark wings in my chest, hooked claws taking hold. She’s mine. - Who knew full-of-himself asshole was your type?” - She was worth the wait and all the strings attached. - “People don’t give looks like that to their friends, bud.” - I know you’re leaving, but I had to tell you before you did. I’m in love with you, Calla, and I’d love it if you wanted to be with me here in the real world.”
Review: This is the 3rd book in this series and it doesn’t disappoint. I may like it even more then the others. For me the book starts off with me wanting to smack around Kendall with all his arrogance but then you see that’s it’s his armor. His life started off pretty rough just like Raph’s but he was able to change it around also thanks to Raph. Though even with his life on a great path he never has plans to settle down and get married. Then he meets a Cello player that he just can’t get out of his head and not sure why she seems familiar either. The cello player Calla is able to book an audition at Experience for the chance to play at Raph and Lia’s wedding which Kendall is the best man. The night of the audition Kendall realizes why Calla seems familiar, she’s part of his wait staff and can’t stand him or can she? I went through so many emotions with these characters that had a hard past and are trying to create a new future.
Tropes: - Romance - Sarcasm - First time - Slow Burn - Spicy - Guy falls first - Forced Proximity
This is the 3rd installment from this series. All books can be read as a stand alone or together. Out of all 3 books this is by far my favorite. It was beautifully written and kept my interest. I also, feel like I see a lot of growth from the author Mia Sparrow. I think she did a great job executing this book. I recommend reading this book!.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was such a good book! I loved seeing Kendall's story after having him as a side character since Book 1 of the series. This story has such strong character transformations and arcs from beginning to end. Start here or with a previous book of the series - it doesn't matter because you'll love them all - I promise! Mia Sparrow's writing just gets better and better!
What a lovely welcome back into this third book it was great being back with some of the previous books main characters. This book had a few twists and turns tto get to the happily ever after. Totally would recommend this book.
