Have you ever browsed the shelves in the library, just to see what's there? See if anything piques your curiosity? Every once in a while, I do this, just to see if I can find something new. The very beginning of the non-ficiton section is devoted to the wierd: dragons, mythical creatures, and aliens. That's where I found this book. I checked it out because it was tiny and looked like a quick read.

It was fast, and it was also trippy. It is written perfectly straight: if I really wanted to hunt UFO's, this could be a reasonable pocket guide. But then, there are things that make me feel it is a private joke, the author laughing at people who believe in aliens: for example, she includes conversation starters, in case you meet an alien. These include:

Nanoo, nanoo.
I'm okay (point to self), You're okay (point to alien).
Any trouble finding the place?
Take me to your leader.
Can I offer you a snack?

The clincher is the list of questions to help you determine whether or not you are an alien, yourself.

I think this book is a huge joke, and I think there may be people out there who won't get it.

I picked this book up mostly for laughs out of a short read. The book is very short, easy to read, and funny to any non-believer (a group in which I must count myself). This book will give you all the local hotspots, tips and tricks for recording a sighting, and all manner of other information you might need, all delivered very straightforwardly, and I assume, not as a joke, but as a serious publication. The only part which made me suspect otherwise were the end pages, which suggest greetings such as "Nanoo Nanoo" and listed sci-fi movies to watch as references.
Overall, if you're looking for a short entertaining read, this is it! And if you're a serious U.F.O. Hunter, this is your manual as well, and I feel sure it will suit your purposes. Best of luck to you!

This book made my brother and I obsessed with aliens and UFOs. Every night we would go to the backyard and search the skies for UFOs. This book is excellent.
