Discussion of comparative literature and other approaches to studying Marquez's book. It gives a perspective of the importance of that book and diverse ways of perceiving it, such as linking the "magical realism" and plot of the story to social realism and the history of Columbia.

It includes an extensive bibliography of material which discuss "One Hundred Years of Solitude" for those who are interested in further study.

This book helped me to read that book from a variety of perspectives.
