Witty, but to the point. This book, by Don Wallace, gives the reader the basic concept of what you will go through when deciding to buy a boat and live aboard. Color photographs bring the experience to life and Appendix 1 provides basic information on buying a boat and outfitting it for cruising. Excellent read for anyone interested in boating.
If you’re considering the great loop or living on a boat for an extended period, this book is the best I’ve come across. I’ve read several that talk about buying a boat and details about owning a boat. Ones that spend time talking about all the places they’ve been on the loop and they are good, informative, an interesting read but not like this one. This book really tells the story of living on a boat. Don is a Wonderful writer that knows how to tell a story. I was sorry when I finished it, I wanted more. Don, Gillian and 2 cats on a really great boat named Jaz. It can found on kindle and a few places still have copies. The story takes place about 20 years ago. Don is still in Canada but his beloved Gillian has passed.
Really enjoyed the read. I am seriously considering becoming a full time live aboard and I found myself interested in every aspect that was written about, especially the mishaps. The specific s covered at end of the book were great.
Very informative and interesting. I believe the author really let's the reader understand what this type of cruising will be like. Well done Don Wallace, greatly enjoyed it.
This is an interesting book as it is told by the author about his and his wife's experiences with buying a trawler, their travels around the gulf coast to South Carolina and the Intercontinental Water Ways. It is funny, has some true unnerving moments, and I like how he is open about their life on a trawler. I loved it.
