A former NYPD detective presents an account of his undercover investigations for the NYPD Department of Internal Affairs, offering a searing expose of police corruption in New York City, its magnitude, and its impact
Cop Hunter is definitely for the people who are in some way involved in law enforcement or are close with someone who is. I found this book interesting just due to the fact that I have my criminal justice degree. Vincent Murano does such a wonderful job of helping you visualize the things that actually happened in his life and it helps really set the tone of the book; I really felt like I was there right along side him. As a freshman student in college, when I read things about the Knapp Commission in New York, or about the Blue Wall - this book would have been great to read along side it. If you're at all interested in policing history in New York, maybe this is the book for you. Probably wouldn't read again, but glad that I did.
This book is interesting to me because it is about cops in the 1980's. Some cops are crooked and some do their job the right way. The book starts off with Vincent Murano as a regular street cop. Soon enough he gets promoted and starts handling big cases with the FBI. In the 1980's there was a lot of police corruption going on and cops had each others back and would not snitch. However, some cops would turn their back on their old friends just to become recognized aslegit police officers.
