A must for every communication professional in school, hospital, clinic or office practice, 40,000 Selected Words is a sourcebook of words sorted by consonant sounds in the English language. It is dedicated tothe task of improving communications skills. The lists are comprehensive and varied enough to be used with children or adults. This handy book is alphabetized and organized by initial, medial and final positions and into consonant clusters/blends. It includes medial and final sounds and blends not easily found in a standard dictionary and is arranged by a number of syllables (1-5) in each word to aid the students progression from simple to complex. There are lists for all spellings for each sound, and sounds are indicated by English letters and phonetic spellings. The book is indexed in the upper corner of each page for easy flip-through use.

Sometimes we ask ourselves…what’s a three syllable word that starts with /ʃ/? A two syllable word that ends with /t/? Four syllables with /θ/ in word medial position? I’ve spent so much quality time with this book this past month that I consider it my sacred text.
