A photographer who chronicled both the private and public aspects of Muhammad Ali's life on film for three decades shares more than one hundred photographs of the legendary boxer
I enjoyed the book, a great look at the legend through the lens of a close friend. If you are a fan of photography and Muhammad Ali you will definitely enjoy the photos in this book, Some of which you've probably never seen before. Great inspiration for photographers, and great examples of black and white analog photography to enjoy. Fair warning though, this came out way before Bill Cosby was canceled so he appears in one or two photos, and there is a bit written by Bill and his wife at the beginning of the book.
I had this from a signing Muhammad Ali and Howard Bingham did when I worked in Oxford, (there is a photo taken outside the shop I worked in from the previous year when he came to sign his autobiography, a really exciting day) but have only flicked through the photos up until now. There are thirteen introductions (including Nelson Mandela, Budd Schulberg, Bill Cosby and Muhammad Ali himself) which add context to many of the photos, and there are lots of amusing stories told in them. The photos themselves are at once professional and intimate, taken by Howard Bingham, a friend of Muhammad Ali who had been with him since the beginning of his boxing career.
