Planning a virtual or in person trip to Yellowstone National Park? Then you’ll want to share your adventure with Fiona, a precocious little girl who “absolutely, definitely” does not like the rotten egg smell emanating from the geysers and mud pots.
In her opinion, “It is gross. It makes me gag. It is wa–a–a–y too stinky for me.”
However, much to her surprise, she finds a host of others who don’t seem to mind it at all. Who are they, and will they help change her mind?
Kids and adults alike will commiserate with Fiona’s saga while enjoying Robert Sauber's hand-painted water color landscapes and breath-taking realism of the wildlife in the world famous park we know as Yellowstone. Don't miss out on Fiona's journey!
Won this in a goodreads giveaway. This is a fun adorable read to read to your kids . A touching story to read to your kids . I can’t wait to rid this to my niece and nephew . I highly recommend this book .
Fun. Lively. When I was a kid and young adult, I visited and worked in Yellowstone National Park. This book brings back smells, sights, brilliant colors, and array of animals. Amazing illustrations! Wow. Adult friends and grandchildren smile ear to ear while reading. Terrific book.
Penelope Kaye knocked it out of the park on this one! A cute, fun story integrated into one of The United States treasured parks! Fiona, the main character is a hoot and turns out to have quite the special message at the end. The animals and the geysers of the park in the illustrations come to life through Robert Sauber’s beautiful paintings! I highly suggest this read for anyone who loves Yellowstone or is interested in visiting for the first time! Also, a great book to get the little ones to love learning to read!
I Do Not Like the Rotten Egg Scent in Yellowstone Park, by Penelope Kaye, proved to be an extremely enjoyable read. The illustrations can make or break a children’s book, and my two favourite pictures are on page 5 and 7. I feel this book clearly illustrates how, through the eyes of a child, we can take the unpleasant things in life and find meaning and purpose in them, even if we do not enjoy them ourselves. Great job, Penelope!
My young son liked this book but quickly forgot about it. The pictures are delightful and the story flows well. There is a great rhyming scheme in most of the book, but there are a few places I feel that it falls flat and makes the book awkward to read aloud to kids with continued cadence. Overall a wonderful book that hopefully brings more attention to the beautiful national parks.
This is a very cute book about a red headed, yet spunky, little girl named Fiona. She loves Yellowstone National Park, but definitely is NOT a fan of the smell there. The pages are very colorful and wonderfully illustrated. Makes you feel as if you were there with her. Looking forward to reading more from Mrs. Penelope Kaye!!
Fun and beautifully written and illustrated children's book. We loved reading about and seeing the gorgeous western landscape and animals. The funny text about the smelly air made my kids gighle.
