This is a great starter book for those who are vegetarian, and have chronic kidney disease and diabetes. I am 78, have had diabetes for ten years and this year, I have been diagnosed with CKD 3b. I wanted to know more about what to do besides cut down on salt.
It tells about the problems that come with kidney disease and co-morbidities. It is clear and simple language that is easy to understand for beginners. I love the tables!! One of them tells what you should aim for at your current stage of kidney disease, at my stage I need to have low sodium, low phosphorous and low protein. There are tables with suggestions of foods that fit what you need at your level.
It also goes over suggested supplements for your stage of kidney disease. There are also meal plains, I was surprised to find out that I am eating very similar to the meal plans! One of my favorite part of the book is Appendix A which goes over the common lab tests that you have and what to eat more of or less of is the value is high or low! It is so easy and so helpful.
I love this book and will be referring to it often.
