A darling little book that reveals a lot about the passed-down lore of the Slavic people. The title is a bit misleading in this day and age because it has come to be associated with the first level of Girl Scouts (and they may have taken their name from this book) but this book has nothing to do with the Girl Scouts and everything to do with the fey spirits of Poland. As one of the fey spirits states, "At first we were not called 'Brownies,' but 'Godlings'..." which would be bożinik aka domovoy. But it follows the tale of a few of these "Brownies" and their "King" as they help people out including a young orphaned girl.
