This was an exquisite book to take time over. I learned a lot about how tapestries were valued especially by the rulers and leaders of Europe in the 15th and 16th centuries. My favourite little fact was how the Dukes of Ferrara and Mantua borrowed each other’s tapestries when they had an important function on where they wanted to impress guests. I now have a list of tapestries or the related cartoons I want to see ..the easiest because they are in England are the Hunting tapestries and the Raphael cartoons at the V and A. I think this is probably the most expensive book I e ever bought and it was worth every penny.
