Elaine's daughter Maliyah was diagnosed with autism at 3 years of age, and that diagnosis lead Elaine to a new career. Elaine has spent years helping families of children with disabilities in 25 counties in Ohio. She currently works at the nonprofit Ohio Coalition for the Education of Children with Disabilities. Elaine is a volunteer at heart and serves on several family advisory councils including the Nationwide Children's Hospital Autism Treatment Network and Family as Faculty. Elaine is the Chief Operating Officer of the nonprofit Emerging Autism Solutions, founded by Angela Ramos Fields.
