The Year that changed everything by Krusha Sahjwani follows a story of a young woman named Kinjal who lost her toxic father and how knowing the story from her father's side changes her perspective of the world. This book follows the best and the most important thing any piece of art form should follow,"Show dont tell". We are not explicitly spoon fed the information but the ticks and her behaviour changes depending on her past experiences and we wonder what would make her give such an expression or why she used such language. Everything is brilliantly written.

The best thing this book does is it has a boyfriend character which is introduced to our MC during the demise of her father. So, basically the reader possess the same information as the boyfriend and any exposition done is used using that character. Special mention to the graphic designer who has designed the cover for this beautiful novel. The shadows shows the glimpse of Kinjals childhood and the main article shows how she grew apart from his father as time passes. A brilliant representation of the story in a minimilistic but powerful way. Highly recomended

Kinjal's story is one of love, loss, hope, and self-discovery. When her father passes away, Kinjal realizes she never truly knew him. But as she reads through his diary, she uncovers secrets that change her perspective and helps her understand him better.

"The Year That Changed Everything" by Krusha Sahjwani is a heartwarming tale that explores the themes of love, loss, hope, relationship and friendship along with serious themes like parental pressure, a troubled marriage and the lengths parents will go to for their children.

Through Kinjal's journey, we see how knowing both sides of a story can change everything. One could relate to her struggles with changing relationships, a new boyfriend, and finding her way in her career.

Krusha's simple yet captivating writing style takes readers on an emotional journey. Each diary entry adds depth to the story, leaving Kinjal and the readers unsettled. You will love reading about how Kinjal deals with her emotions while handling her relationship with Ved, and how her best friend Div always has her back.

What I loved is the small moments that Krusha described. How her mother loved watching sunsets and how she made her watch them. Her observations and the way she tries to sort and solve the mystery is impressive. The little moments Krusha describes adds an extra layer of depth to the story. Each chapter fixes up the missing puzzle making the story more exciting.

The characters are brilliantly developed, with Kinjal and Ved standing out as relatable and genuine. The unexpected climax is a great addition to the narrative, and the events unfold in a smooth and emotionally charged way.

Overall, "The Year That Changed Everything" is a moving and fulfilling story that readers will love. Whether you're looking for a light read or an emotional journey, this book has it all.

The story revolves around a 22-year-old girl named Kinjal who is excited about her first date but is suddenly struck by the news of her father's death. This event drastically changes the course of her life and takes her on an emotional journey.

One aspect of the book that I particularly enjoyed was the way most of the story was revealed through the diary entries of Kinjal's father. This added a unique perspective to the story and allowed the reader to see events unfold through the eyes of someone who is no longer present.

It was a heart-wrenching experience to see Kinjal's struggle to come to terms with her loss and the secrets her father kept from her.

The author has done a remarkable job of building a vivid and immersive world, making the reader feel as if they are a part of Kinjal's journey.

The use of good vocabulary only adds to the beauty of the book.

The twist at the end of the book was nothing short of mind-blowing. It was expertly crafted, and I was left in disbelief as I realized that the answer was right under my nose the entire time. The author's ability to keep the reader in suspense until the very end is truly commendable.

If you're looking for a book that will take you on an emotional journey and leave you with a new perspective on life, then this is the book for you.

Twenty two years old Kinjal tries to live her life like any other youngster in the early twenties in which she loves to hangout with friends, gets excited about going to dates while struggling to decide upon a career and make her own identity except that she misses what one needs most - a happy family. All of this starts to change when she gets to know of her father's death, who was abusive towards everyone in the family, especially her mother. While dealing with rather mixed feelings about the new normal at home, one day she finds her father's personal diary which changes everything in her life.

📝
The story was quite simple but interesting enough to hold my attention till the end. Good vocabulary was used to capture emotions but transition between scenes could have been smoother and it was often tough to identify the speaker during dialogues. The author nicely portrayed life through the eyes of a young girl from an upper middle class family in Mumbai, though the focus was bit too much on her and lacked attention to other characters.

Overall, the book would have been much better if it had gone through a few more rounds of editing. Said that, it would be decent read for a beginner.

The Year That Changed Everything is a fiction book of around 180 pages. The language used is lucid and the story is full of emotions.

The story is about 22 years old protagonist, kinjal. A college going girl whose life drastically took a sharp turn from her first date. She got her hands on her father’s personal dairy who got expired recently. She came to know about her father a little closely which could not have been possible if he was still alive. What was the secret of her father which changed her life? Will that going to affect her relationship, friendship, career and love for her parents? Read out this book to know more about it.

I find the characterisation was good and each and every character was filled with emotions. However, some polishing on narration side could have been done. I still find the initial part of the book bit harsh which could have been narrated in some different way without affecting the message passed through story. But my overall experience was okay with the book. I am impressed by the author how beautifully emotions have been moved from one point to another, which is a very strong point. The story was quite predictable and fast paced for me and i couldn’t stop myself in reading further. Recommended for beginners!!

🥀I recently got my hands on this very beautiful and heart touching read which touches so many aspects of human life and changing phases as an adult, the storyline revolves around Kinjal and life isn’t as easy as she thought it would be, she suddenly gets exposed to so many new emotions!

The feeling of being in love, losing an important one along with having grudges with the same and at the same time coming across all the unexpected things life throws, this book is a very relatable tale, for sure not everything was relatable but for sure it has something for everyone. The book is full of life, love struggles and vulnerable emotions we go through, it taught me so much and I felt so connected with it.

Amazing dialogue delivery, diary entires, smooth narration and easy language makes it a beginners friendly read, also it’s meant for all avid readers. It’s medium to fast paced and is definitely addictive!

It has everything a good book should have, the hindi touch to it was my favourite part! It’s definitely an engaging read that was perfect for weekend, I will surely recommend it.

The book starts with Kinjal on her first date with her boyfriend but it was not excited as she thought it would be because she was interrupted by a phone call which is going to change her perspective forever.
No, the death of her father didn't affect her as much as his personal diary.
But once she discovers his secrets she feels knots in her stomach, lost in these thoughts she couldn't even concentrate on her CA studies.
She even couldn't be the same with her mother after reading the diary. Unfortunately Vedant, her boyfriend had to take the toll of her emotions.
Where Devyani proves to be her great friend just by being there for her when she needed it the most.
This book completely takes the reader into Kinjal's world. If you see from her shoes losing a parent at that young age and knowing all his secrets through his diary, feeling helpless and angry about it as she cannot ask or discuss it with him as he is not there any more makes it very difficult.
I loved the concept how most of the story unraveled from the diary entries.
It was different and fast paced. Though I felt some parts seemed to be unnecessarily stretched out a little like the making out scene between Kinjal and Vedant.
Nevertheless I am happy I read this one as this is a roller coaster of emotions.

A heartwarming story of Kinjal, a 22 year old, CA aspirant who is already torn between passion and profession. One day, she gets to know that her father has passed away. Even though her relationship with her father was mostly dysfunctional, Kinjal feels that his demise has left a strange void in her life. Yet the crumbling feeling of losing a parent was amiss and for the most part she felt her life was only going to become better.
Things take a drastic turn when one day going through his library she finds her father's diary. There are always two worlds - the one that exists and the one that we perceive to exist.
As Krusha reads on, she finds herself immersed in her father's past and her perception of the world around her changes entirely.
I honestly loved the entire story and how it progressed. It was so heartfelt and full of emotions. You become one with the main character. I was also in awe with Vedant who despite all odds stood by Kinjal through this emotional turmoil.

The year that changed everything by Krusha Sahjwani
shows us how easily we cut -off communication, take things at the face value, and then we regret when we drift apart from that one person who matters to us the most.
The book follows the story of Kinjal, an aspiring CA. A high-spirited, career oriented girl whose life revolves around her mother, Sakshi, her friend, Devyani and her boyfriend, Vedant. She hasn't considered her father in her plan of life. And when she loses him feeling the pain is a task. Over the years she has seen her parents fight, her mother pay the bills and put food on the table so her anger is justified until she accidentally discovers her father's diaries. This is sure to change her outlook. ©

Losing our parent(s) is one of the nightmares, Kinjal, a 22-year-old has her nightmare turned into reality. The emotional trauma she goes through in her life is when she discovers the diary of her dead father. The diary completely changes her thoughts, emotions and her self. With every page she reads in her father's diary she gets more questions and thoughts in her mind. Her life has changed completely which affects her studies. But above all in her hard time, she had a friend Devyani who supported her in every possible way.

The book tells about emotions, affection, family and true friendship.

The essence of words with every chapter going on at a perfect pace makes it one of the amazing reads.

The title seems to be the most appropriate as it justifies the story and the plot.

The Year That Changed Everything is a book by Krusha Sahjwani. The book centres around dealing with sudden loss of a parent. It's one of the worst fears of any child, i.e. to lose their mother or father. It's the kind of pain one never recovers from. Kinjal, our protagonist while drowning in this pain finds her late father's secret diary. Unfortunately, the diary makes the matters, if it was possible, even worse. The book has many twists and turns. With its emotional angle, it was easy to imagine Kinjal and sympathise with her plight.

10/10 - the parental dynamic
8/10 - the characters (I felt like the characters could have been explored more but then that's me being a greedy reader)

There's more than reached the eyes.

Life doesn't come up with terms and conditions. We are just thrown in the dungeon to fight out own demons and dragons.

This book portarys life in a very different dimension. A twist in the tale and the world goes crashing by,this is the thought behind the book. Written to soothe every reader to take something from the same. Wonderfully penned.
