Susan Saunders knows how to use detail to create suspense in a gamebook. Light on Burro Mountain isn't my favorite of her offerings, but Susan Saunders uses the strictly limited space to tell a good ghost story, set in the modern West. The possibility of striking it rich by discovering hidden gold factors into every decision you make.

It's difficult to craft a solid storyline in these Bantam Skylark Choose Your Own Adventure books because they're so short; Light on Burro Mountain is only fifty-three pages, nearly half of them illustrations. So, allowances must be made when reading a book like Light on Burro Mountain; the writing doesn't have to rival that of E.B. White or Katherine Paterson to be exciting. Searching for gold on Burro Mountain should satisfy most readers' thirst for adventure.

I would give this book one and a half stars.

Dentro de la linea Globo Azul para los más pequeños, este libro se queda corto. Susan Saunders plantea una historia bastante decente, con elemento sobrenatural y bastante intriga. Pero es tan extremadamente corto que la historia no llega a buen puerto en casi ninguno de sus finales. Incluso siguiendo todas las rutas no quedan claras bastantes cosas.
