The Torment of Billy Tate

Rate this book

“It’s you…” says the demon. “After all this time, it’s you…” When Mo meets Olivia, he sees her as nothing more than a wannabe-exorcist. Yet the more he gets to know her, the more he realises there’s something else to her.

Something that could either be very good – or extremely bad…

Billy Myers is a kind father who, in a moment of inexplicable rage, kills his family. Now he resides in prison, haunted by the entity that drove him to murder.

But when Mo decides to exorcise Billy, he finds that this might not be a simple entity. What’s more, there seems to be a link between this entity and Olivia that neither of them can explain.

Will Mo figure out what this link is before it’s too late? Or will this evil bring forth catastrophic events that the world cannot undo?

This is the stunning supernatural horror sequel from the much-acclaimed horror author Rick Wood…

This is the 2nd book in The Rogue Exorcist series. An absolutely fantastic read, I demolished this book in 2 sittings, the author literally grips you and doesn't let go till the final word OMG whoosh done. Every book I have read by the author has the same effect on me.

Billy Tate who is a kind and loving family man, and in a shocking unexplainable rage kills his family, he is claiming he is possessed. Is he or was it something different?

Mo by chance attends a lecture at the same place where Derek taught his classes and meets Olivia, but all is not as it seems. If you've read The Edward King Series or The Sensitives books, this book goes back though some of the history before Mo which I loved. If you have read any of them you'll understand what I was feeling reading this.

It still had shockingly gruesome horrific moments, but the storyline just carried me through like my own movie in my head playing.

If you haven't read this author ..... OMG 😲😲, you are definitely missing a great read. This author's books are truly addictive. Saddened I had read the last word though, but excited for the next book in the series. Boo hoo 😭😭 I'll just have to be patient!!!

Whenever this author writes a book, I have to stop what I am doing and read his book. This book was no different. I know when I read his book that I am going to get a thrill ride. Billy Tate is possessed by something that a sensitive has never seen before. Mo tries every exorcist weapon that he knows to no avail. The only thing he does know is that this entity want Olivia, the woman Mo went to see. She was lecturing about exorcism and what it takes to exorcise a demon. When Mo finds out why the entity wants Olivia, Mo as well as I, the news was shocking. Leave it to this author to throw out such an unexpected piece of news. Rick Wood has evolved into such an amazing author and I recommend all of his books. 5⭐️.

Creepy Twists and Emotional Fallout

Spoiler alert

What Jennifer and Tilly went through at the beginning was mind blowing. It made me hate Billy and feel bad for him at the same time. The whole situation was creepy and scary. April was in this one too, even if only briefly, and I loved her presence. The story kept me fully engaged the entire time. The realization about Olivia caught me completely off guard. Mo came across as such a lover boy who just wanted to be loved, especially by April, but he also seemed to attach himself to women he was close to. It was an outstanding read.

I decided this year to try a new author at least every other month... I came upon Rick Woods in that search. I have been pleasantly surprised with the first two books of his I've read. This was the second. Though I don't love the main character, I do feel the need to know what happens with him... I think it takes a good writer to create that need. Definitely planning on reading more from Rick Wood. Love these stories.

Not particularly a blood and guts extreme horror (well, not for me anyway, but I'm sick and twisted 😁). However, I still found it very readable and am now about to start on book 3 of the series.
