I am a fantasy author from Texas living in upstate New York and writing about the wild worlds that live in my head. I am also an aerial circus artist and stilt-walker, an aspiring farmer, and a slightly obsessive dog owner. It is my ultimate goal to write inspiring stories set in worlds that reflect our own in ways that can only be achieved through the magic and power of words.
A thrilling end to the series! I finished each of the first two books anxious to know where the story went, left dangling by the machinations of an author who surely knew exactly what she was doing splitting the trilogy where she did. Here at the end, she is no less skillful bringing everything together with a satisfyingly tidy conclusion.
How can we sum it up? There's romance and drama, fight scenes and thoughtful introspection, and even a few more surprises along the way. Gellion comes into his own as Kyna finally comes into focus for the reader and herself. We get more thoughtful reflection on the value of emotion against -- or perhaps alongside -- logic.
When it's all over and the final page has been turned, every lingering question will have found its answer and every plotline its end. And the poor reader who spent so long waiting for the chance to know it all, will only find themselves ready for the next adventure. I hope you write more, Haley. I'm ready to read it!
The final installment began at a break-neck pace and wrapped up more ploddingly. The story reveals several mysteries from the earlier books, and takes care to remind you of how much the characters have learned along the way. While most of the inventive headway is made in earlier books, new monsters, vierstone techniques, and additional details on elven political society offer intriguing details as the characters persure their mission. While the plot wraps up nicely, it's not without some losses and high stakes. The end leaves me wondering how the elven society will shift under its newfound knowledge and shared, gruesome history.
Shaping of Stone intensifies the compelling complications and thought-provoking relationships of this Elven society. Her captivating writing pulls you in emotionally through the unfolding revelations of the varied and intertwining storylines. In this last book of the series, all mysteries were resolved, explanations were forthright, and interactions were unraveled to a satisfying conclusion!
I was not ready for this series to be finished, and I’m still not! No matter how many times I read this book, so many emotions hit me with the same intensity. All of the pieces come together in Shaping of Stone for an epic finale. And the characters will linger with you.
