“…the Lord’s Supper is primarily a meeting of lovers, considered either as Christ and his church (where the Scripture analogy is of a marriage relationship), or as a Father and his people (where the emphasis is on the family relationship).”, p. 203

Most of the book was just decent, but the chapters at the end on the Supper and the work of the Spirit and the pastors preparation for the Supper are gold.

I enjoyed reading this book and will return to it again in the future for further reflection on the meaning and meaningfulness of the Lord’s Supper.

An absolutely phenomenal book on the Reformed conception of the Lord's Supper and the practice of communion meetings in the Scottish churches.
