The best introduction to Ancestral Pueblo rock art, with strong emphasis on examples from present-day New Mexico. Dr. Schaafsma writes well, knows her stuff, and has many photos illustrating her points and arguments. I saw her give a book talk at the UofA when the book was new and she filled a large lecture hall, and got enthusiastic response and good questions from her audience. This is a book that belongs in the library of all rock-art enthusiasts. Essential reading. An easy 5-star rating!
