Companies are what they measure and the selection of good performance indicators is not an easy process. This monograph suggests how to identify indicators that achieve a balance in these effects and enhance long-term profitability. It focuses on the designing of a Performance Measurement System (PMS).
This book is a perfect technical and conceptual reference for development the performance measurement indicators and systems. This book covers the subject from the basic definitions of indicators and representational measurement theory to challenges and mechanisms of implementing the performance measurement systems. Although I mostly recommend this book to more technical researchers and academics, but the conceptual knowledge will help all readers to grasp a more holistic view about the measurement and development of indicators. although the authors tried to make the book comprehensible for readers, the consistency of subjects and the order of chapters could be better. For example the second chapter doesn't fit into the order of concepts, or some parts repeat in different chapters.
