Gray is an allegory expressing thoughts about religion and division during the year 2020, written from the perspective of a high school senior navigating the effects of such a tumultuous time.

A Wall forever divides The Society in half, keeping one side in constant light and one side in constant darkness. However, during an event called the Seeing, members from The Society on both sides of the Wall are paired up with one another, and are allowed to explore both sides, before finally making a request to either stay, or choose the other side. The story centers around Boy 1137 and Girl 26 and their quest for individualism, differentiation, questioning, and trying to navigate different philosophies in finding their purpose in The Society, and what choices they should make.
