The Old Wise Woman: A Study of Active Imagination

Rate this book
This book was one of the first works made available to a general readership on the subject of Active Imagination—a technique developed by C. G. Jung in which the imaginal world is entered deliberately while awake in order to gain self-knowledge and resolve conflicts. In it, Rix Weaver presents an account of her work of Active Imagination with one of her analysands—a process that began with a dream and yielded a personal myth, recounted here with amplification and commentary.

"The Old Wise Woman" is a valuable resource for those interested in Active Imagination. Author Rix Weaver worked with CG Jung, who refined the technique. In OWW Weaver meticulously applies Jung's theories of the Unconscious to actual examples of Active Imagination at work.

Rix Weaver is a very Old Wise Woman. Diagrams the method to deal with Jung's Collective Unconscious and its archetypes in a therapy setting. Well done.
