Zero Anthology No. 8 has some real gems in it. Over 30 poets, writers and artists shave a small piece of their vision in this book. I only recognized five of the authors so found myself researching a lot on the internet. Especially enjoyed Vidal's short story, Bowles piece on Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) and the poem by Constantine Cavafis. Henri Calet's short story, "The Open Door" had a twisted end that still has me reeling. I was also intrigued by Ursule Malinaro's name so looked her prior to reading her story. Wow! See "Ursule Malinaro's Shoes" on the internet if you are interested. I loved reading the poetry as I rarely do. Odd that there were pictures submitted that really did not translate well on the page. I also wanted to do more research on Zero Press out of New York but so far have been unsuccessful. I am guessing it was a specialized publisher; the type that William Burroughs and the Beats turned to for publication. An interesting piece of literature written by voices now silenced except for print. Written while European empires were unraveling, and the Cold War was ramping up. I feel as though this book would mostly attract other writers.
