Well written with a lot of information about the history of the Adirondacks

A well-written, multi-disciplinary introduction to history, biology, and geology of the largest public park and one of the most interesting transition zones in nation. The second half of the book, focusing on the policy and endeavors of the "forever wild" proponents, was far less interesting than the earlier chapters.
