William Rankine: famous engineer who invented the Rankine temperature scale, the Rankine cycle, and the two Rankine methods. Turns out, he was also a bit of a poet.

This collection of short poems and fables was published two years after the engineer's death. The poems have that wonderful antique style: rhythm, rhyming, and humor. They might not touch on anything particularly profound, but they allow a glimpse into the mind of a brilliant 19th century mind.
