I have a hard and fast rule..."Never do sequels." Unfortunately I didn't realise this was a sequel to Ned Sherrin's Theatrical Anecdotes until I was well into it, and I think my rule was validated. A few of the anecdotes were genuinely amusing, some just interesting, most pretty dull. He has page upon page of "anecdotes" about each British monarch starting with William the Conqueror, which really just read as a potted History of England. I would be more interested in his Theatrical Anecdotes to see if they are livelier, but I'm not rushing out to find it.
The sort of book you can pick up at any time and not lose the continuity,a few were well known but many I'd not heard before.an entertaining book I'm surprised I'm the first one to rate it.
