About the author

Samuel A. Broverman (1951-), ASA, Ph.D. studied mathematics at the University of Manitoba (BSc 1972, MSc 1973, PhD 1976). He is a University of Toronto NSERC Postdoctoral Fellow (1976-78). Prior to becoming a U of T professor of actuarial science in 1980, he was an assistant professor with the University of Texas, Austin.

It got me an 8 on the exam. I don't want to give it so many stars, however, because it was not exactly a pageturner. The characters... were so undeveloped as to not exist, although the romance between me and the math was clearly defined.

12 practice exams at the back (2020) and end of chapter questions.

The questions are very difficult vs the real exam. I would have much rather taken Adapt + ASM.
Still the tedious math (RIP Integration by parts, quadratic functions, hypogeometrics) is worth learning, you never know when you might need it. It's probably better for those with a better background on stat and calculus.
