Heroes of Dunbar Mountain
Book 1: The Lawman's Promise Book 2: To Trust a Hero
Alexis Morgan grew up near St. Louis and received a B.A. in English from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She and her husband have made the Pacific Northwest their home for more than thirty years, where she launched her career as a writer. She is published in paranormal romance, fantasy romance, American West historicals, and most recently, contemporary romances with her new Snowberry Creek series.
First in the Heroes of Dunbar Mountain series, in which museum curator Shelby Michaels is shocked to find that the gold nugget disappears from its usual setting in the museum. Who took it? And why? Especially now that a strange man has shown up claiming to be the owner of the nugget and demanding that it be handed over.
Police chief Cade Peters generates sighs in all the women in town, including Shelby, but she tries not to be so obvious about it. Shelby needs Cade's help, however, in finding out of Max is correct, that the nugget belongs to him.
In the course of trying to find out who really owns the nugget, both Cade and Shelby come to a conclusion neither expected or sought, but will they act on those unanticipated feelings? A good start to a series that promises to be interesting. Example: will Max come back in order to be near Rikki and her son?
This heartwarming story by Alexis Morgan is fantastic. The first in her Heroes of Dunbar Mountain series this one is filled with small town charm, a lot of entertaining secondary characters, including some villains, and a mystery to do with the town’s prize possession a gold nugget. Museum curator Shelby teams up with new police officer Cade and their sweet blossoming romance threads perfectly as they work together to figure out the mystery and if newcomer Max has any claim to the nugget. I thoroughly enjoyed this one from start to finish and it was truly entertaining as we find out more about the secondary characters and their stories. I’m looking forward to Max’s story next, I feel Rikki will give him a run for his money!!
The Lawman’s Promise is the first in a new series, Heroes of Dunbar Mountain, by Alexis Morgan. The book centers around the true ownership of a large gold nugget on display in the museum and nestled in the history of the town of Dunbar, set in the Cascades. The development of the townsfolk as they struggle to work together complements, and sometimes complicates, the budding romance between Cade, the Chief of Police, and Shelby, the curator of the Dunbar Historical Society as they struggle to find out the truth of the nugget’s ownership. This is a heartwarming story and an easy read. I recommend it and look forward to the next book in the series.
This is the first book in the Heroes of Dunbar Mountain series. I really enjoyed this story! It was a mixture of romance and mystery that kept my attention from start to finish. The author did a great job of including a variety of interesting characters within the community the story is set in and I am looking forward to the next book in this series.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced reader copy.
I started this series by reading the 3rd book 1st. I passed over this book several times because the trillium nugget story did not seem interesting to me. I enjoyed the 3rd book so much I went back to the beginning of the series. I bought this book in spite of my previous concerns, and I'm sorry I did. It not hold my interest and it seemed like Shelby and Cade's 'romance' was more about hugs and I realize it's a Heartwarming but I did not but catch the feels between them at all.
This is a fun mystery in a new series by Alexis Morgan. It’s an entertaining romance mystery - enough questions to keep one guessing, suspense to move the mystery along, and a budding romance. I enjoyed the quirky town of Dunbar and the diverse characters. I look forward to the next book in the series.
An engaging romantic mystery. Who really is the rightful owner of the gold? Interesting characters and a dog add charm, problems, and challenges. I am eager to read more about the folks in Dunbar. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.
No library. Only a bookmobile. And the jail is so small that there’s only one cell. With the sudden appearance of someone new in the small town of Dunbar, the ownership of a rare gem, the trillium nugget, has everyone up in arms. Does the stone belong to the town or does it belong to the person attempting to claim it?
Shelby Michaels is proud to be the museum curator for tthe town’s small museum. Yes, both the town and museum are small, but the town’s board as well as its members all have a strong sense of pride.
Things get turned upside down when someone that drives in town lays claim to the nugget. This keeps the town’s new police chief, Cade Peters, on his toes. Something else is making Cade wary, and that is that many of the women in town are vying for his attention. Clearly, Shelby Michaels isn’t one of them, at least she tries to not make it obvious, but Cade definitely notices her.
With a mystery and a sweet romance, this first book in the Heroes of Dunbar Mountain deftly setting the pace for an engaging and entertaining series.
This is a Romance, and this is the first book in the Heroes of Dunbar Mountain series. This book does not have any steamy times in it, but it does have some kissing in it. I found the romance in this book to be cute and sweet. I enjoyed all the characters in this book, and there was a lot of older characters that got themselves into trouble. This book was a fun read that I did not want to stop reading. I found the ending of this book to be a great wrap up of everything happening in this book. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Harlequin Heartwarming) or author (Alexis Morgan) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.
This is an absolutely delightful cozy mystery set in the small town of Dunbar. LOVE the characters, and all their small town antics. The mystery centers around ownership of the town's pride and joy, a large gold nugget. A stranger, Max, has claimed it belongs to his family, and the town will stop at nothing to prove he is wrong. I enjoyed the sprinkle of romance between the chief of police, Cade, and the museum curator, Shelby. Rooted for them the whole book. This is a light, fun, and interesting quick read you are sure to love. I can't wait to read the next book in the series. I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
