He graduated from University of Missouri at St. Louis after accepting a baseball scholarship to play for the UMSL Rivermen. During this time he became a 2-Time All-American baseball player and graduated with a BA in Science. He furthered his education by getting a MA in Science at Walden University. Later, he moved to the Missouri area and started coaching in 2007.

Joshua Banks was adopted and raised in Southern Illinois. He is becoming a jack of many trades. Initially, he started working in sales/marketing for Coca-Cola out of college, but transitioned into teaching high school English, Creative Writing, and Media Literature. He's been at his profession for over twenty-one years. While earning many accolades in high school and college for academics and athletics; Banks transitioned his zest for sports into coaching. Recently he decided to try and take a swing on another path part-time, while continuing to teach.

Banks has started actively working as a producer with the ACX company in conjunction with Findaway Voices. He has been at ACX as an audio voice producer since summer of 2020. In conjunction with his narration producing, Joshua has released three novels. On Oct 9th, 2021, He published his first book called High School Basketball: Establishing a Program. In it he works to help educate future junior high and high school coaches who are looking to build a successful basketball program by providing resources, suggestions, and personal experience in the trenches. However, his passion lies in fiction writing, so following his first released novel, Close To The Bone Publishing produced his second Sci/Fi novel called Event Horizon, featured on Nov 26th, 2021. He recently on Nov. 15th, 2022 released a follow up to his second novel called Event Horizon Series: Dark Sentinel.
