This informative book covers how to use these regal summer plants to their best advantage in containers, borders or in a wild or woodland garden. A visual reference to over 60 varieties of lilies with full botanical descriptions of each, and with hints and tips on cultivation and garden make this the definitive guide to understanding and cultivating lilies. The grower's guide tells how to grow lilies, from buying bulbs to suit particular soil types to disease and pest control.
If you're looking for a slim volume with lots of photos of lilies from before 1998, this is the book for you. Half of the book is taken up with lists of species of lilies with some photos of them. There are just a few pages on planting, growing, and propagating lilies. This book might be good for a raw beginner or someone who is more interested in learning about lilies than in planting them, but you can find more up-to-date information online for free. I found it a disappointment. It looks like the author rewrote this book and published in 2014, so that might be more useful.
