Sacramento State Students Tell It Like It Is
Sacramento State has gone by many aliases through the years. CSUS. Cal State Sacramento. CSU, Sacramento. CS Sacramento. However, its official name is California State University, Sacramento. Though personal friends are allowed to call it Sacramento State (personal friends being mostly students). In the old days, Sacramento State was referred to as Sacramento State College, and it was free to go to school there. The school gained university status in 1972.
Sacramento is a very diverse area. Many companies use California s state capital as a test market for products and services because of the unique population mix. With all of the different racial and economic groups, Sacramento is seen as a microcosm of America.
There are more different types of people here than I ve ever seen.
It s hard to get a good gauge of how many people are here, because most people just stay for class and then go home or to work.
What about Sacramento s nightlife?
Parties on campus? Don t think there s any. Clubs and stuff off campus are fun .
Downtown bars are packed with all kinds people, college-age, young adult, old, everything .
Sacramento s bar and club scene is very low-key compared to the ones in more prominent cities like nearby San Francisco. Still, it s not hard for students to make the most of what they ve got.
Visiting campus isn t enough.
