This is a bit of a "jack of all trades" book, and does somewhat assume the reader is already familiar with embroidery techniques so I'm not sure how useful it would be to the absolute beginner. It is, however, the perfect book for someone who is familiar with basic hand sewing techniques and simply wants to explore the different types of embroidery they can create. Each section has information about the technique, a beginner's project to get the hang of it, then several more complex projects to get a more rounded idea of how it works on a larger scale.
