White King Rising: a novel inspired by actual events

Rate this book
At the stunning conclusion of the suspense novel "White King and the Doctor" CIA analyst James Mikolas and Andrew Weir, his young Grand-master chess champion partner, had discovered the secret identity and location of the world's second-most-wanted terrorist-Ayman Al-Zawahiri. Believing they also knew what strategy he would use to bring down the United States from within, and WHO the true White King was, they set out to stop "the Doctor." Having successfully escaped, however, Zawahiri assumes another identity in a shockingly different part of the world, where he continues his "hide in plain sight" tactic, and triggers his doomsday scenario against the United States-set to launch June 30, 2011. Discredited and ostracized by the US government, Mikolas and Weir are determined to warn the unsuspecting White King and save America from complete cultural destruction. They are joined in their desperate mission by Andy's wide receiver, Brian Washington Carver. Having climbed out of the "hood" to become a star collegiate football player and computer "gamer," it is his personal tragedy that unlocks the mystery of HOW Zawahiri plans to destroy us, and how we can defeat him at his own game. In a suspense novel taken from today's, and possibly tomorrow's, headlines, "White King Rising" is the story of how we win.

Hopeful

A bit slow, but the story is well thought out. Looking forward to the next book. I enjoyed this one more than the first.

I have been a fan of Lee Kessler as an actress even before she was an author. The characters she portrays are rich and multi-leveled not thin cardboard cut-outs. She has translated her amazing ability to flesh out characters, see into the truth of situations and articulate what she sees into print with her two suspense novels - "White King and the Doctor" and "White King Rising." She takes the reader on a very real and gripping journey into the world of terrorists and those who protect us from them. The more I read these books, the better I began to see how we as loyal, patriotic Americans are being manipulated and who are pulling the strings. Considering these books are works of fiction, they ring true to events that are making it onto the front pages and the news shows. Both books are too exciting to put down, so better get comfortable, you are in for a thrilling ride. And good news... I just saw on her Facebook page, LeeKesslerStoryteller, she has started the third book in the series. Here's hoping they make it onto the big screen soon. Read more reviews on Amazon.

This book has a fairly gripping plotline, but the thing that makes it worth reading is the ideas and cautions it contains rather than the writing. This is because it may be reflective in great detail of what is actually being done to our culture by external and internal enemies without anyone realizing it. It is not literature, but the premise is brilliant and worth exposing oneself to. The reason I read novels is for the story. In this case, I actually read it to see if I could glean any truth about the current situation in the middle east.
