Beautiful actress Mary is dead, and her boyfriend, Sandy, and her ex-boyfriend, Ansil, are left to pick up the pieces, sift through the clues, and unveil some surprising secrets, in an oddly hilarious tale of love, death and the theater
Comedy is funny. That’s one of the things I like about it. This first novel by the funny man Tom Leopold features a funny unlikeable narrator who’s ex-girlfriend just committed suicide. Laughing yet? Over the course of a week he sad sacks his way to comprehending the incomprehensible. Don’t worry. There are plenty of banana peels that slip him up along the way. Even a suicide note can have a punch line.
I guess it’s not my sense of humor? It’s more like a character study to me. Ansil, Mary’s current boyfriend gives Sandy the news that his ex, Mary has killed herself. Mary left a note for Sandy. He tries to make sense of it and we follow as he stumbles through it.
