Fantastic book about birds. Eastman takes the reader way behind a field guide to delving into so many interesting behaviors and facts about many of our well known woodland, yard, and thicket birds. Covers many families of North American birds highlighting what the bird is doing and where it is doing it in spring, summer, fall, and winter. Covers mating behaviors and nesting details plus comments on why the bird is doing so well right now or why the bird may be declining in numbers. Often other authors are quoted for what they wrote -- in a literary sense about an individual species, and this was always fun and interesting. Plus excellent illustrations. This book is guaranteed to enlighten you about birds in your neighborhood. I learned so much more about the birds around the farm by reading this book. Well written- highly recommended.
